Men’s Slouchy Beanie Crochet
Last year, a good friend asked me to make a crochet Rasta hat for her husband. So I decided to kill two birds with one stone by creating a video tutorial at the same time.
Unfortunately, at that time, I didn’t write up a pattern. Now that I found a little free time, I’m able to bring to you this men’s slouchy beanie crochet pattern, FREE.
This pattern is just not for men or someone with dreadlocks. Trust me, since first creating this hat, I have made many for my bad hair days. It’s a pattern everyone will love.
It is simple & perfect for the beginner crocheter.

sc – single crochet
ch – chain
sl st – slip stitch
dc – double crochet
dc2tog – 2 DC together
hdc – half double crochet
*Note: Ch 2 doesn’t count as a stitch.
Gauge
3 rows = 2 inches
Pattern
Start with Magic Ring, chain 2 (Color A)
Round 1: 12 dc into magic ring, sl st to join (12)
Round 2: Ch 2, 2 dc in each st around, sl st to join (24)
Round 3: Ch 2, *dc, 2 dc, rep from * around, sl st to join (36)
Round 4: Ch 2, *dc in the next 2 sts, 2 dc, rep from * around, sl st to join (48)
Round 5: Ch 2, *dc in the next 3 sts, 2 dc, rep from * around, sl st to join (60)
Round 6: Ch 2, *dc in the next 4 sts, 2 dc, rep from * around, sl st to join (72)
Round 7: Ch 2, *dc in the next 5 sts, 2 dc, rep from * around, sl st to join (84)
Round 8-16: Ch 2, dc in each stitch around, sl st to join (84) Change to color b on Round 9 & Round 16 to color c.
Round 17: Ch 2, *dc in next 5 sts, dc2tog, rep from * around, sl st to join (72)
Round 18: Ch 2, *dc in the next 4 sts, dc2tog, rep from * around, sl st to join (60)
Round 19: Ch 2, *dc in next 3 sts, dc2tog, rep from * around, sl st to join (48)
