4 mm 5.5 mm  hook

2 buttons

Stitches

Sl st- Slip Stitch

Ch- Chain

Sc- Single crochet

Puff st – Puff stitch

Special stitches

Puff Stitch:  Yarn over, insert hook into stitch, pull up a loop (repeat this two more times for a total of 7 loops on the hook). Yarn over and pull through all 7 loops, Chain 1.

Magic ring or ch 4 and join to form a ring.

Round 1: Ch 1, 7 puff sts in ring, slp st to join . (Video 0:55)

Round 2: Ch 1, 2 puff st in each ch-1 sp  around. (14 puff sts)

Round 3: Ch 1, (puff st next ch-1 sps, 2 puff sts next ch-1 sp) around, slp st to join.  (21 puff sts)

Round 4: Ch 1, (puff st next 2 ch-1 sps, 2 puff sts next ch-1 sp) around, slp st to join.   (28 puff sts)

Round 5: Ch 1, (puff st next 3 ch-1 sps, 2 puff st next ch-1 sp) around, slp st to join. (35 puff sts)

Rounds 6-19: Ch 1, puff in each ch-1 sp around, slp st to join. (35 puff sts) (Video 11:25)

Switch to a 4mm hook

Round 20-23: Ch 1. Sc in each st around,working into the top of puff & ch-1 sp, slp st to join (70 sts) Don’t cut.

Working with 2 strands of yarn

Row 1: Ch 1, sc next 55 sts, turn. (55 sts)

Row 2: Ch 1, sc across, turn (55 sts)

Row 3-6: Repeat row 2. Fasten off when done

Turn corners up at ends of hat and sew button on. Button are non functioning only for appearance. See video for attachment (Video 15:50)
