Materials

2 skeins Caron One Pound Lace(A) Espresso(B), or other #4 medium weight yarn 

5 mm Hook

Scissors

Stitches

Yo- Yarn Over

Ch- Chain Stitch

Sl St- Slip Stitch

Sp- Space

Dc- Double Crochet

Rep- Repeat

How To Change Colors

On a sl st- Place hook through indicated st, yo with new yarn color, draw the yarn through the stitch and through the loop on the hook.

On a dc- Yo, place hook through sp, yo, draw up a loop, yo draw through 2 loops, yo with new yarn color, draw the yarn through the last 2 loops on the hook.

4.5 x 4.5 inches

Notes

-Ch 3 counts as dc throughout pattern

-Using the tapestry crochet technique, work your stitches over top of the yarn color you are not using

-Groups of 3 dc sts are referred to as clusters.

Pattern

Magic ring or ch 4, sl st into first ch to form a ring.

R1 color A: Ch 3, 2 dc, ch 1, (3 dc, ch 1) 3 times, sl st to the top of ch-3 st to join. (12 dcs)(video 1:12)

R2: Sl st next 2 sts (change to color B on 2nd sl st), (sl st, ch 3, 2 dc, ch 1, 3 dc) in the next ch-1 sp, *(3 dc, ch 1, 3 dc) in the next ch-1 sp, rep from * around, sl st to the top of ch-3 st to join. (24 dcs)(video 2:41)

R3:  Sl st next 2 sts (change to color A on 2nd sl st), (sl st, ch 3, 2 dc, ch 1, 3 dc) in the next ch-1 sp (change to color B on the last dc), 3 dc in the next sp between clusters (change to color A on the last dc), *(3 dc, ch 1, 3 dc) in the next ch-1 sp (change to color B on the last dc), 3 dc in the next sp between clusters (change to color A on the last dc), rep from * around, sl st to the top of ch-3 st to join.(36 dcs)(video 5:26)


R4:  Sl st next 2 sts (change to color B on 2nd sl st), (sl st, ch 3, 2 dc, ch 1, 3 dc) in the next ch-1 sp (change to color A on the last dc), (3 dc in the next sp between clusters) 2 times (change to color B only on the 6th dc), *(3 dc, ch 1, 3 dc) in the next ch-1 sp (change to color A on the last dc),  (3 dc in the next sp between clusters) 2 times (change to color B only on the 6th dc), rep from * around, sl st to the top of ch-3 st to join.
