In my everyday life I have only met a handful of crocheters. So when I do meet a fellow yarn addict, I find myself blabbing about reverse single crochet. I have a crochet Instagram friends that I rarely interact with on-line, but it is a great place for inspiration. I needed to find more people like me. I decided to join some crochet group pages on Facebook and other online forums. I figured this was a better way to interact with other yarn addicts. I was shocked when I started to join these groups.
I think I’m a pretty damn good crocheter. I take pride in all my work. Well until I set my eyes on yarn master pieces. These artisan (crocheter is to of a weak a word) were making table clothes with crochet thread and a size 2mm hook! My fingers would fall off. I felt like I was a kid learning the chain stitch all over again. These women and men were on another level. I don’t crochet below a 4mm hook or make anything bigger than myself. I guess I have a shorter attention span.
After floating around in these groups for a while you get to see teachers emerge. People who post often and give tips. Every person in these groups are so kind and helpful. There is no such thing as a crochet school, this is as close as it gets. I fell like I’m a high school level crocheter, in my imaginary crochet school. I’m trying to make it to PhD level. I love it. Its a great place to get and share new patterns
If you feel like doing something more than a double crochet and get one on one advice find the crochet community. My husband finds it weird but who cares.
