1. Brian the Brachiosaurus

crochet dinosaur pattern

Here’s a special kind of crochet dinosaur pattern that’s made in the rag doll style. Two flat panels are crocheted using basic stitches, sandwiched together, and sewn with a bit of stuffing in between the two layers. These types of projects are great for new crocheters who haven’t quite mastered working in the round!

Here’s a perfect example of just how crazy you can get with your dinosaur colors! Compare the more realistic dinosaur on the left with the colorful dinosaur on the right. 3. Dewey the Dinosaur

Some crochet dinosaur patterns are modeled after a specific species of dinosaur, while others are a little more free in their designs. This little guy doesn’t really look like any species in particular, but he still looks like a dinosaur – and a super cute one too!

4. Toby the Tarbosaurus

Here’s a design that’s modeled after a specific species of dinosaur – and it’s one I’ve never heard of before! The designer chose a more realistic design paired with a more whimsical pastel color palette. I love the color choice – especially if you are looking for dinosaur amigurumi patterns to make for small children.

5. Stellan and Stanley Dinosaur

While many free crochet dinosaur patterns call for worsted weight yarn, this one actually calls for fingering weight yarn. It’s a special skein of yarn that comes with all 4 colors you will need to crochet both of these adorable dinosaurs. The resulting dinos are smaller than the average crochet stuffed animal but just as cute!

6. Crochet Triceratops Dinosaur

Here’s another pastel dinosaur design that I just can’t get enough of. The orange and pink combination is absolutely charming, and I especially love the endearing placements of the facial features. Loosely based on triceratops, what it lacks in realism it more than makes up for in charm!

7. Bernard the Dinosaur

It can be fun to crochet dinosaurs with little clothes on them. The fact that Bernard here wears a little shirt makes him infinitely more sweet than scary – even if you can see his teeth hanging out below his smile. It’s the little details like this that really make crochet stuffed animals come to life!

8. Hello Stegosaurus

Of course, there are some folks out there who may be sticklers about dinosaurs! Matter of fact children may inform you that dinosaurs do not, in fact, come in rainbow colors. In that case, you better stick with a more realistic design like the one for this adorable stegosaurus.
