If you’re reading this, you obviously have some interest in monetizing your crochet blog with Adsense.  You don’t even have to have your own blog, it works with Youtube as well. The more sites you use with Adsense, the more money you will make.  Anyone can write a blog even if it’s just your own opinion on something.

The best thing about blogging is that there are no rules.  You can write about anything you want. A self-publisher’s dream!   There are some things you can do increase your profits when using Adsense

Narrow your subject. Don’t just write about anything. You need to niche down. Write about  amigurumi. Not about horses. That’s a stretch but you get the understanding. Most importantly publish often.

Advertisers pay Google when their ads on your blog are clicked on.  For example, if you write about yarn, you will likely see ads from craft store on that page.  You get a click, the advertiser pays Google, then Google pays you.

Do I Need to be a computer genius to use Adsense?

No!

Don’t be intimidated by the html code when monetizing your crochet blog.   Adsense has already formatted for you. All you have to do is pick the language and how it looks, then copy and paste the html code to your site.

You don’t have to be a techno-geek to use Google Adsense. In fact, you don’t need any more technical knowledge than you do will searching online.

If I can do it, so can you. Adsense is user-friendly with awesome support to answer any of your questions..

You are first walked through the sign-up process where you are prompted for any and all information needed.  You will then have a couple of days while you are waiting for your account to be approved. This would be a good time to familiarize yourself with the program policies, which of course you read before you signed up.

But look again. Make sure the site you are registering doesn’t have any of the no-nos listed. For instance, some profanity is allowed, but nothing excessive. What is excessive? That could be a gray area, but if you’re in doubt, don’t register that site.  There’s plenty of sites with little or no profanity.

Monetize your crochet blog: When Do I Get Paid?

Adsense pays you 30 days after the end of the month. At that time you will become eligible for payment. Once your account reaches $100 you are eligibility to receive payment.

Let’s say, you started in February but you have not  accumulated $100.00 in your Adsense account. You’d then need to wait and see if your February and March total earnings combined equal $100.00. If they do, you would be paid approximately 30 days after the end of the month of February, that is, you could expect payment near the end of March.

Adsense Offers Direct Deposit?

Google adsense offers various payment options for publishers.  Electronic Funds Transfer (ETF) is offered in 16 countries whereby your payments are deposited directly into your bank account in your local currency.  Check Google Adsense support to see which countries participate in this option. You will need to sign up for this option after your application is approved by signing in to your account.

You then click the edit link adjacent to the payment header.  After filling out the bank info, Adsense will make a small test deposit into your bank account. This is for security purposes to assure the account is really your own.

Watch your account for the test deposit to post within just a few days.  After you have received the deposit from Google, log back into your account and in the Payment Details section, click Verify Account.

You then will need to enter the amount of the test deposit. If you do not complete this step, your payments will be on hold. Once you enter the test deposit amount correctly, your bank will be approved and selected as your form of payment.

Adsense’s Rules

Ask friend and family to click your ads on your site. Sympathy only goes so far.  This is it against the Google Adsense Program Policies. by relying on friends and family members for clicks, you’re cheating yourself  and Adsense.

The “help me out” wail may work when your kid is selling outrageously expensive candles for the end of the year school party but it has no place in the  Adsense program.

If your having friends click on your ads, that means you are not properly optimizing your crochet blog for clicks and referrals.  Instead of begging for help use that same drive into making great content for your site.

Google Adsense Tips To Remember

Just like in life, you get out what you put into it.  When monetizing your crochet blog, these tips will help you optimize and grow more Adsense revenue:

  • Write interesting content as frequently as possible.
  • Monitor your statistics across all sites.  If your site is performing poorly, consider changing the content or the ad layout.  Experiment! • Google several keywords phrases and take note of the rankability and cpc rates. I use KWfinder for this
  • Don’t be afraid to ask questions.
