What is an I-Cord?
Did you know, the I-cord is short for “idiot cord,” a term coined by Elizabeth Zimmermann? It refers to how simple and easy it is to make. An I-cord is a narrow, sturdy tubular piece of fabric, typically made using knitting needles or a crochet hook.

How to Crochet an I-Cord
Follow these step-by-step instructions to master the art of crocheting an I-cord:
Materials:
Yarn of your choice
Crochet hook
Instructions:
Step 1: ch 3
Step 2: Insert hook in 2nd ch from hook, yo
Step 3: Pull through
Step 4: Insert hook in next ch, yo
Step 5: Pull through
Step 6: Remove 1st & 2nd loop from hook while holding the base of loose loops tightly
Step 7: Yo
Step 8: Pull through
Step 9: Insert hook into next loop, yo
Step 10: Pull through
Step 11: insert hook into last loop, yo
Step 12: Pull through
Repeat steps 6-12 until desired length
Finish the I-Cord:
When your I-cord is long enough, YO through all 3 loops on the hook to fasten off.
