Have you at any point known about a Trellis Necklace? Ladder yarn (also known as trellis fiber, ladder or ribbon yarn) looks precisely like the name infers.

Two slender parallel strips, divided by shimmering pieces of ribbon. Creating little rungs that are evenly spaced apart.  Ladder yarn looks similar to a latter or lattice.  Not to be redundant, but hence the name.

From a few feet away the strips look like little jewels. When crochet into jewelry this ribbon ladder yarn makes an excellent creation, and it’s super light! I love wearing big necklaces, but they can be so hefty around the neck that they become awkward. Luckily Ladder yarn is as light as a feather.

About The Yarn

Ladder yarn is not as easily available as it used to be. Luckily I found an old Premier Citylife yarn in my stash. Unfortunately, this yarn has been discontinued. You can still find it on Amazon, eBay & Etsy. I find that Ice Ladder yarn is very comparable. It doesn’t really matter what ribbon yarn you use, the pattern is the same.

This is considered a #5 bulky yarn. Ladder yarn not the kind of material that you would use to crochet clothing, yet it’s incredible for a speedy and simple crochet necklace.

This ladder necklace is  so lightweight, that you forget you are wearing it. Luckily all the compliments you will be getting will help to remind you.
