Crochet Kraken Tentacle Scarf Pattern for Hockey Fans

crochet kraken tentacle scarf

I designed this double-thick tentacle scarf in the Seattle Kraken hockey team colors. Go Kraken! This unisex scarf pattern features pockets, an adjustable length, and a clever new way to make suckers that doesn’t involve sewing.

You are going to love how fast and easy the suckers are to make!!

I think this scarf looks great on both men and women. This scarf would be an especially great gift for a Seattle Kraken hockey fan. Or you can make one for yourself to wear to the next game you go to.

You’ll need to know how to single crochet, half double crochet, double crochet, increase and decrease. I have included many pictures to help you along the way and my pattern has been thoroughly tested for clarity and ease of use.

Did I mention that it has pockets? Because it does and they are amazing. You can use them to keep your hands warm in the cold hockey rink or you can store your keys and wallet in there so you don’t need to bring a separate bag.

No-Sew Suckers

With navy and the larger hook

Attach your yarn on the first horizontal bar of ch sts on one side of your scarf:

Step 1: Ch 2, hdc 5 around the bar.

Step 2: Rotate your work so you are looking at the opposite side like this:

Step 4: Work 3 more hdc around the bar, facing this opposite side. This next picture shows how you insert the hook:

If you count from right to left, you will be working your 3 hdc sts between the 4th & 3rd, 3rd & 2nd, and 2nd & 1st sts as shown:

Step 5: Sl st to the sp created by the beginning ch. (Shown with the green arrow in the picture above)

Step 6: Ch 6, sl st around the next horizontal bar.

Repeat steps 1-6 for each sucker of your scarf. I just went around to each one in a circle.

Step 6: With the non-suckered side facing you, push up on each sucker from behind with one hand and pull it through the hole created by your horizontal bar with your other hand. You are essentially rotating it on the horizontal bar.

Then your suckers should look like this:

And your wrong side should look like this:

Assembly

With light blue

Working around the edge of the bottom layer of your scarf, with the wrong side facing you, surface slip stitch all the way around, fasten off.

With navy and the smaller hook

Hold both scarf layers together with the suckers facing out. Attach your yarn to any slip stitch from the bottom layer. Ch 1, single crochet through the slip stitch and the edge of the top layer of your scarf together. Continue in this fashion all the way around.

Line pockets if desired.
