Today I want to teach you the crochet arcade stitch pattern. The stitch creates floating cutouts & beautiful arches from double crochet & single crochet
It’s a very simple pattern made up of single crochets and double crochets. For the visual Learners, you can follow along to the full step-by-step video tutorial.
The arcade Stitch looks great on scarves, throws & even crochet tops. All you need is a little imagination.
Use a solid color or alternating color rows to really show off the shape of this pattern. I’m using Mighty Stitch Bulky weight yarn with a number five crochet hook. You can use any weight yarn with this corresponding hook size.
About the yarn
To create the crochet arcade Stitch, we’re using yarn which was provided by WeCrochet. Mighty Stitch is a #5 bulky weight yarn. But it definitely feels more like a full worsted weight.
Please don’t mark this against this yarn. I absolutely love it. It has an amazing luster & it feels like magic on the hook. Just make sure that you check your gauge.
Crochet Arcade Stitch History
Arcade & arches architecture inspired the crochet arcade stitch. An arcade is a succession of contiguous arches, with each arch supported by a colonnade of columns or piers.
Can you see how the stitches mimics the arcades and arches in the picture above!
